Critical
Evacuation
CCMS-SEC-SOP-001 §13
In a fire, a weather event, or a violence-adjacent evacuation, every parent in the room will try to go through the same two doors toward the children at the same moment. That crush is how children get trampled by people who love them.
Call 911 now. Do not debate this.
Give location, problem, and send a runner to meet EMS at the watched entry.
- 1
Pre-assigned sanctuary route that does not dump the entire room onto the classroom doors.
- 2
Children's workers do not release children into a stampede. They hold, account, and release to tagged adults at a controlled point — preferably at the classroom end, not in the main foyer.
- 3
Team splits: some move the congregation, one holds the lot for incoming EMS/PD, one stays with the children.
- 4
Reunification is a named place (a classroom, a marked corner of the lot), announced once, and then repeated. Parents running in three directions are not a plan.
- Practice this with the children's workers. A twenty-minute drill that embarrasses no one will save lives that a binder will not.
